Foundations for Country Health Services

Foundations for Country Health Services: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Strategic Plan 2007-2010 (Foundations) sets out WA Health’s reform agenda for strengthening health services across country Western Australia over the next three years.

A large number of our own staff, other health providers, health experts and community representatives have provided input into the development of this document.  Many people participated in the themed workshops and forums between July and September 2006.  These discussions and debates led to the development of the final draft of Foundations that was distributed for comment in October 2006.  Over 60 feedback submissions were received by mid-January 2007 and these informed the final Foundations document.

The way forward includes ensuring all of the Foundations reform projects are incorporated into our operational and work plans for 2007/08 and beyond and through comprehensive regional services planning. Implementation of reform will be overseen and monitored through a Foundations Implementation Working Group and a WACHS Reform Committee who will report to the WACHS Executive team every 3 months and up to the Director General and Minister for Health every 6 months.
