WA Country Health Service has conducted an annual rural and remote mental health conference in regional Western Australian since 1993. These conferences are specifically aimed at increasing the access and quality of mental health service delivery in ruraland remote regions.
This year we are excited to announce that the conference will be held at the WA School of Mines Conference Centre, Kalgoorlie 11 – 13 November.
The 2009 Conference theme is ‘Mental health in the bush: challenge, innovation, resilience’, exploring innovative strategies to involve:

Children and adolescents.

Consumers and Carers.
-
Aboriginal Communities.
-
Drug and alcohol and mental health issues.
-
An alternative, collaborative, innovative project.
Working in partnerships will be a continuous thread throughout the conference.
To officially open this event the WA Country Health Service welcomes the Hon Dr Graham Jacobs MLA, Minister for Water; Mental Health.
Keynote speakers include:
• Professor Steven Allsop, National Drug & Research Institute, Curtin University of Technology. • Professor Ernest Hunter, Psychiatrist, Queensland Health & Adjunct Prof. School of Population Health. • Dr Tracey Westerman, Founder & Director, Indigenous Psychological Services. • Professor Graham Martin, Director Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, University of Queensland. • Keith Wilson, Carer Representative. • Liz Waters, Consumer Consultant.
