As a patient safety initiative to prevent transmission of infection, the purpose of this Clinical Practice Standard (CPS) is to establish minimum practice standards for the decontamination of diagnostic ultrasound transducers throughout the WA Country Health Service (WACHS). This CPS may be used in conjunction with specific site departmental requirements. Information excluded from this CPS comprises: - specific procedural guidelines for sterilisation i.e. operating theatres - procedural guidelines for specific diagnostic ultrasound transducers.
