WACHS Great Southern Mental Health Service (GSMHS) is a specialist service that provides acute mental health care for inpatient and community clients in the Great Southern region. The community teams are located in Albany and Katanning and consist of triage, adult, older adult, youth, child and adolescent teams, all staffed by mental health professionals. GSMHS employs Aboriginal mental health workers who assist the clinical team to provide culturally appropriate treatment. Referrals are accepted from GPs and other health professionals. If urgent, clients may phone or self-present to Community Mental Health within office hours.
