New Stomal Therapy Clinic for Busselton Health Campus

A new Stomal Therapy clinic has been introduced at Busselton Health Campus in response to community feedback.

In a first for the local area, the fortnightly clinic means patients with stomas following abdominal surgery can now obtain support, education and counselling in Busselton reducing the need to travel to Bunbury.

The opportunity to provide the service was identified during community consultation during planning for the new health campus.

Stomal Therapy and Wound Management nurse specialist Felicity Jones will run the clinics.

“I can help patients, carers and families with education, demonstrations and pouch changes,” she said.

“Information about new products and options is also available.”

The clinic will conduct pre-operative assessments, education and counselling, and post-operative follow-up.

Patients in the Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River and Augusta areas can be referred to the clinic by GPs and community services, can contact the clinic directly on 9722 1227 or email WACHS-SWStomal.Therapy@health.wa.gov.au

The first clinic will be held Friday 15 May 2015 from 8am – 12noon.
