Old Busselton Hospital demolition underway

Preparation has commenced for the demolition of the old Busselton Hospital as the next phase of the Busselton Health Campus redevelopment gets underway.

The old hospital building will be demolished and additional car parking bays and landscaping created.

The works will be carried out over the next few months by contractors Doric Constructions, the builders responsible for construction of the Busselton Health Campus.

WA Country Health Service South West Regional Director Kerry Winsor said locals would notice a significant change to the landscape once the old hospital was decommissioned.

“The old building has served this community well for nearly 40 years, but it’s time to move on and make way for the additional car parking that is needed at the new campus.

Ms Winsor said that like most buildings of its vintage, the old hospital contained asbestos and its removal will be closely monitored by Doric Constructions in compliance with relevant Commonwealth and State laws, Australian standards and codes of practice.

“We would again like to thank local residents for their patience during the construction of our wonderful new health campus.  This final phase of work will create the much needed parking and landscaping needed to accommodate a facility of this size,” Ms Winsor said.
