Works set to commence at Esperance Health Campus

Residents of Esperance will soon be able to receive renal care closer to home after the WA Country Health service announced a new self-dialysis facility will be developed at Esperance Health Campus.

The $3.5 million undertaking is set to commence in June and will see refurbishment of the existing ward to include a self-dialysis facility as well as an upgrade to the nurse call system and a number of other developments.

WA Country Health Service Regional Director (Goldfields) Geraldine Ennis PSM said the community supported home dialysis unit will provide a facility for local patients to undertake the treatment in a comfortable and familiar setting.

“The refurbished unit will be located inside the inpatient ward of Esperance Health Campus, with two treatment bays and a separate consultation room with videoconferencing capability,” Ms Ennis said.

“The renal and other works are expected to be completed mid-2019 with minimal disruption to patient care and services,” she added.

Ms Ennis said funding for the $3.5 million project included $915,000 from the Commonwealth-funded Bringing Renal Dialysis Services Closer to Home project to expand renal service infrastructure.

Work on the project has been awarded to Devlyn Construction.
