The WA Country Health Service and Rural Health West are asking people living in rural Western Australia to nominate a health professional for the People’s Choice Award at the 2020 WA Rural Health Awards.

With less than two weeks left to nominate, the WA Rural Health Awards celebrate the achievements of health professionals who have enhanced the range and quality of health care available in country locations.

The People’s Choice Award gives rural patients and community members a chance to recognise a clinician who has provided outstanding health care services for them or a family member.

WA Country Health Service Chief Executive Mr Jeff Moffet said country clinicians often go above and beyond to care for the communities in which they live and work.

“These awards are an opportunity for us to recognise their ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes in country WA,” Mr Moffet said.

“The WA Country Health Service patch alone services more than half a million people.

“We encourage each and every one of them to nominate, share their story and celebrate the people who may have played a part in keeping them healthy,” he added.

Rural Health West Chief Executive Officer Mr Tim Shackleton said it was important to acknowledge health professionals who work to ensure there is continued access to high-quality medical care in all country towns.

“Our rural health professionals are vital to the health and ongoing viability of rural Western Australia.

“I encourage everyone to get behind their local doctor, physio, nurse, pharmacist and other health professionals and nominate them for recognition.”

Nominations close on 2 December.
