Salaries

General benefits

Medical practitioners may be eligible to receive the following benefits under the terms and conditions of the WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2016:

  • Long service leave (13 weeks every 10 years, then every 7 years)
  • Parental leave (14 weeks paid, 52 weeks total for the primary care giver only)
  • Annual leave (4 weeks/20 days)
  • Deferred Salary Scheme
  • Public holiday leave (10 days)
  • Sick leave (80 hours)

Incentives

The WA Country Health Service offers medical practitioners several incentives to work in regional WA.

Junior Medical Practitioner Incentives

You may be eligible for the following incentives:

  • Overtime (150% then 200% after 40 additional hours)
  • Professional development leave (3 weeks per year pro rata, 4 days for examinations)
  • Professional development allowance.

Senior Medical Practitioner Incentives

Senior medical practitioners may also be eligible for the following incentives:

  • Emergency mobility allowance (25% base salary)
  • Professional Development leave (2 weeks)
  • Overseas Professional Development leave after 5 years continuous service (5 weeks)
  • Professional development allowance
  • Private practice income allowance (Arrangement A)
  • Teaching opportunities
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary team and a wide variety of cases
  • Immigration sponsorship for 457 visa applicants
  • Professional indemnity insurance cover.
