WA Country Health Service to deliver care across five new Wheatbelt sites

Throughout 2024 WA Country Health Service will take over management and service delivery of the five health centres in the Wheatbelt currently operated by Silverchain.
Lancelin will transition from 2 May, with Beacon to follow on 9 May, Bencubbin on 16 May, Hyden on 23 May and Brookton from 30 May.
The community can continue to access care as normal.
Executive Director Strategy and Change Melissa Vernon said WA Country Health Service is well positioned to deliver safe, patient-centred care to these Wheatbelt communities.
“We have a long and proud history of delivering healthcare to WA’s rural and remote communities and we’re excited to continue this in Lancelin, Beacon, Bencubbin, Hyden and Brookton,” Ms Vernon said.
As well as staff on-the-ground, sites will receive additional support from WA Country Health Service’s Command Centre. Our Emergency Telehealth System, a virtual care service giving residents access to emergency medicine specialists, will be installed within the month following each transition.
“These communities will have access to exceptional on-the-ground care thanks to some amazing frontline health professionals. Our teams will be further supported by 24/7 specialist emergency and mental health support, plus a range of other services and specialties available through our Command Centre,” she said.
Ms Vernon said WA Country Health Service is firmly focussed on delivering safe and responsive care.
“We extend our thanks to the Silverchain team and recognise the important contributions they have made in the Wheatbelt.”
Phone numbers for each service will remain the same.
