Calling all country nurses, midwives and allied health professionals - are you ready to take the next step in your career?

Applications are now open for WA Country Health Service’s 2026 postgraduate pathways in a range of specialty areas.

Whether you're passionate about education, critical care, acute care or perioperative nursing, there’s a pathway for you.

Critical Care Nursing (Emergency or Intensive Care)

We’re supporting WA Country Health Service nurses to complete a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing (Emergency or Intensive Care).

The program, which can run from 12 to 24 months, comprises four units combining hospital-based blended learning and online units.

We’ve partnered with Curtin University to offer reduced fees and dedicated shifts with clinical facilitators.

Successful applicants are also encouraged to apply for a postgraduate scholarship through the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Office WA.

Expressions of interest are open to nurses currently working 0.6 FTE or higher with a minimum of 12 months experience in the critical care nursing setting (Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit).

Applications close on Friday 14 November 2025 at 4pm.

Acute Care Nursing

We’re supporting WA Country Health Service nurses to complete a Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing.

The 12-month program comprises four units combining blended hospital-based learning and online units.

We’ve partnered with Curtin University to offer partial tuition fee support for two units.

The program is designed to enhance clinical and risk assessment skills, experience, knowledge, and critical thinking in acute care nursing

It articulates into Curtin University’s Master of Advanced Nursing Practice Program if the participant chooses to continue to study beyond the Graduate Certificate.

Successful applicants are also encouraged to apply for a postgraduate scholarship through the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Office WA.

Expressions of interest are open to nurses currently working 0.6 FTE or higher with a minimum of 12 months experience in the acute care setting.

Applications close on Friday 14 November 2025 at 4pm.

Perioperative Nursing

In partnership with the University of Notre Dame Australia, we have three postgraduate opportunities available, with reduced fees:

  • Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing
  • Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (Day Surgery)
  • Graduate Diploma in Perioperative Nursing (option to study over 24 months)

Each program focuses on expanding your clinical skills, knowledge, leadership and critical thinking in the perioperative setting.

Expressions of interest are open to nurses currently working 0.6 FTE or higher who meet the minimum criteria.

Applications close on Friday 14 November 2025 at 4pm.

Health Professions Education

We are offering nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals the opportunity to complete a Graduate Certificate in Health Professions Education.

The program aims to enhance the development of adult education theory, principles of teaching and learning, principles of assessment and evaluation, and understanding clinical teaching and supervision.

It comprises four units involving online learning with The University of Western Australia, over two semesters (including a three-day face-to-face intensive at the Crawley campus).

Successful applicants will have their tuition fees paid for two of the four units.

This program also leads into the Master of Health Professions Education if you choose to continue your studies beyond the graduate certificate.

Applications are open until Friday 14 November 2025.
