WA Country Health Service prepares for Leavers Week in the South West
WA Country Health Service is once again preparing to support Leavers Week celebrations, which will take place from Monday 24 to Thursday 27 November 2025.
Each year, thousands of young people head to the South West to celebrate the end of high school, and WA Country Health Service staff are working closely with emergency services, government agencies and local partners to ensure health services are ready to respond if needed.
Jodie Omodei, WA Country Health Service Operations Manager, said Busselton Health Campus is well prepared for the busy week ahead.
“Busselton Health Campus staff have conducted table-top exercises to refresh our surge planning at site and also participated in a multi-agency exercise led by WA Police Force,” she said.
“The Mental Health Commission has again facilitated training for staff that includes an overview and side effects of current drugs and alcohol being commonly used at events, as well as de-escalation and harm minimisation techniques.
“There will also be the bus running again this year to return leavers to their accommodation once discharged following a hospital visit.
We hope that all the leavers visiting the region have an enjoyable and safe time to celebrate the completion of their school years!”
