Outstanding Clinical Nurse Tahnee Innis has been named 2026 Geraldton Health Campus Nurse/Midwife of the Year.
Having worked with WA Country Health Service since 2009 – impressive in itself – Tahnee splits her time between her roles as Clinical Nurse on the ward, Patient Flow Clinical Nurse and acts in the role of Discharge Coordinator.
“I feel honoured to have been nominated alongside so many incredible nurses,” Tahnee said.
“A secret plan was made for me to come in for a work ‘meeting’ and the promise of cake was involved so of course I obliged.
“I would say it felt surreal, and I was very shocked.”
Born in Geraldton, Tahnee grew up between WA and Northern Territory, later moving to Perth to finish school.
She moved back to Geraldton at 17 to complete Enrolled Nursing at Central West TAFE, before commencing her Graduate Program through Geraldton Hospital at 19. Tahnee then completed her degree through the Geraldton Universities Centre to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
Using her skills as a Registered Nurse, Tahnee then travelled around Australia for three years, returning to Geraldton in 2015 to have her two children, while working part-time.
Tahnee expressed her love for Geraldton by sharing her top three activities: Glennies Beach for a surf, Quiet Life for a coffee and going for long runs along Chapman foreshore.
“I feel privileged to work with some of my best friends and I’m genuinely happy to come to work because of the people I work with,’ she said.
“I like that we are quite a unique environment because our wards are mixed speciality.
“This enables our staff to have a wide scope of knowledge and makes for such an interesting and educational working environment.
“I am looking forward to being a part of the redevelopment and opening of our new ICU and ED department.
“I have been a part of the hospital as it is for such a long time that even though I cannot imagine it another way, I am so excited to see how far we can progress.”
