Goldfields Step Up Step Down transitions to WA Country Health Service
From 1 July, management and clinical oversight of the community-based Step Up Step Down facility in the Goldfields will transition to WA Country Health Service.
Step Up Step Down (SUSD) is a short-term residential mental health service that helps people either avoid hospitalisation (step up) or transition from hospital back into the community (step down).
WA Country Health Service will work in partnership with current service provider Neami National to deliver high-quality, community-based mental health services to people in Kalgoorlie and surrounds.
Together the organisations will look to strengthen the current service to meet local and wider community needs while ensuring service continuity.
Building on this, WA Country Health Service is increasing community engagement through the addition of a Senior Social Work – Community Development Officer.
The increase in scope provides opportunities for a greater degree of specialist support while maintaining the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.
