The Cook Labor Government has awarded Hutchinson Builders the design and construct contract for the $60 million, 32-bed Albany Health Campus expansion and the $73.4 million Meekatharra Hospital redevelopment.
Hutchinson Builders was selected based on its proven experience delivering modular health construction projects and operating in regional environments. The $73.4 Meekatharra Hospital redevelopment includes a modern emergency department with three treatment spaces, a resuscitation bay and a mental health assessment room; an acute inpatient unit with five inpatient beds including a bariatric bed and a palliative care suite and new renal dialysis services.
At Albany Health Campus, the $60 million project will deliver a new 32-bed modular ward to increase capacity to meet growing healthcare demand. The ward will feature a mix of single and twin-bed rooms, along with a dedicated bariatric room and an isolation room to support a range of patient care needs. To reduce construction times and minimise disruptions to operations, modular components will be built off site by Hutchinson Builders, transported to the hospitals and assembled on site.
Both the Albany and Meekatharra redevelopment projects are being designed by MODE Architecture.
Together, these projects form part of the Cook Labor Government's record $5.5 billion investment in health infrastructure, strengthening healthcare access across regional Western Australia and ensuring communities receive high-quality care closer to where they live.
