Albany care coordinator a “guiding light” for family
The family member of a patient has thanked a WA Country Health Service staff member for being a “guiding light” during her mother’s treatment at Albany Health Campus.
Elizabeth Thomas was admitted to hospital with serious heart problems in late 2025, causing stress to the 86-year-old and her family.
However, it was the care provided by Chronic Conditions Care Coordinator Ryan Dixon, her daughter Iris says, that gave support and inspiration during what was a very challenging time.
“His compassion, dedication and unwavering willingness to help gave us comfort and hope,” she said.
“He consistently went above and beyond to ensure my mum’s comfort - connecting us with the relevant services and resources we needed.”
Ms Thomas said Ryan took the time to explain her mother’s current and future condition, in a way that was both clear and considerate, during the course of her treatment.
“His positivity and genuine care made the world of difference, and we are endlessly grateful for all the assistance he provided during this difficult time,” she said.
“Thankfully mum is now on the mend.”
WA Country Health Service Executive Director Great Southern Evelyn Quinn said Iris’ letter recognising Mr Dixon’s commitment to her mother’s care was heartwarming and appreciated.
“Recognition like this a wonderful way to let our amazing staff know how much they are valued by not only WA Country Health Service, but also the community they serve,” she said.
“We are honoured Elizabeth and her family entrusted us with her care.
“We were so pleased to hear Ryan’s empathy and devotion to her treatment has made such a difference to her recovery.
“Ryan’s professionalism is testament to ongoing the hard work and dedication of our wonderful team at Albany Health Campus.”
