PATS is travelling in a new direction
The Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) supports people living in country Western Australia to access eligible specialist medical services. In line with the WACHS Strategic Plan to be a leader in technology and innovation the new online portal will provide a more streamlined process, improving the timeliness and accessibility of services for consumers.
The development of a successful online solution will increase our efficiency and accountability, but equally as important, it will give patients more autonomy and visibility of their own PATS applications.
Importantly, this will not replace the current paper-based application process but will provide an online alternative. Regional PATS clerks and coordinators will still be on hand to offer advice and support as required.
PATS Online will be accessible by GPs, medical specialists and consumers. As such, a dedicated project team has been working with external consultants Empired Limited, to drive this important program of work forward.
