Completed project - Kojonup, Gnowangerup and Tambellup

The Gnowangerup Health Service, Kojonup Health Service and Tambellup Health Clinic in the Great Southern were the first three small hospitals to be upgraded under the Southern Inland Health Initiative.

Completed project - Kojonup, Gnowangerup and Tambellup

Project overview

Kojonup Health Service and Tambellup Health Clinic upgrades were completed in August 2015, with Gnowangerup Health Service completed in November 2015.

Gnowangerup Health Service upgrades:

  • new emergency treatment room to enhance medical services for the community
  • upgraded ambulance bay to facilitate the transfer of ill and injured patients
  • new nurse call system to enhance patient comfort and communication
  • a new multi-purpose consultation room with dual egress
  • upgraded physiotherapy room and storage
  • kitchen refurbishment (including air-conditioning) and kitchen equipment upgrades
  • a new generator, switch and electrics – providing 100 per cent backup power
  • upgrades to infrastructure and building safety.

Kojonup Health Service upgrades:

  • upgraded main entry and a new ramp to improve access to the hospital
  • new multi-purpose consultation room with separate entry suitable for telehealth appointments
  • upgraded duress and nurse call systems for improved safety and comfort
  • kitchen refurbishment and equipment upgrade, such as new fridges and freezers
  • new generator, switch and electrics – providing 100 per cent backup power
  • upgrades to infrastructure, building safety and information technology.

Tambellup Health Clinic upgrades:

  • expanded and upgraded treatment room to enhance medical services for the community
  • new multi-purpose clinical consultation room for visiting doctors, specialists and nurses
  • refurbished allied health room to facilitate other health services while the above rooms are being used
  • new and improved waiting area to improve comfort for patients and their families
  • a new meeting room for community health sessions and staff training
  • upgrades to infrastructure and building safety.
