WA Country Health Service is now a Registered Training Organisation
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) has been formally registered as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), marking a significant step in growing the regional health workforce and supporting career development in country WA.
This milestone follows a year-long project focused on enhancing training opportunities for current and future healthcare workers in rural and remote communities. The initiative was led in response to a strategic direction from the WACHS Board Committee, aiming to “grow our own” and build a sustainable, skilled workforce.
The Training Accreditation Council approved WACHS’s registration on 11 September 2025, following a successful compliance audit. The audit noted several strengths in the organisation’s approach to quality assurance and assessment processes:
“Industry discussions and resulting decisions were clear and well-documented, and the proposed processes for continuous improvement and authentication of online assessments were comprehensive and well-structured.”
Caron Booth, Manager of the WACHS Education Centre, said the outcome was a testament to strong collaboration and planning across the service.
Training delivery is expected to commence in early 2026, with courses tailored to meet workforce needs at WACHS sites and support local communities through increased access to training and qualifications.
Approved qualifications and training
WACHS is approved to deliver the following qualifications and skill set:
- HLT23221 Certificate II in Health Support Services
- CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
- HLTSS00061 Food Safety Supervision Skill Set - for the community services and health industries
The establishment of WACHS as an RTO reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to investing in people and delivering safe, high-quality care across Western Australia.
