  • The Narrogin Health Service has a new feature artwork at the main entrance thanks to the State Government's Percent for Art Scheme
Artwork tells local story of fusion and renewal 20 March 2018 The two-year redevelopment of the Narrogin Health Service has reached a new stage, with the installation of the feature artwork at the main entry of the hospital. WA Country Health Service Wheatbelt (WACHS) Regional Director Sean Conlan said the artwork was a tribute to ancient and recent history of the local environment, and had been created in consultation with local Aboriginal elders and using local craftsmen. “Artist Lorenna Grant has created a unique artwork that tells the story of the local eco-system and environment,” he said. “Artwork is an important aspect of healthcare and it is wonderful that the State Government’s Percent for Art Scheme allocates specific funds for this in the development of public buildings. “Research released in 2016 by the WA Arts and Health Consortium Reference Group showed that art in clinical settings improves clinical outc...

Karratha residents to leave their mark on new health campus 13 March 2018 Karratha residents have been given the opportunity to leave their mark on the new Karratha Health Campus. WA artist Leanne Bray has been holding workshops with local community groups and health staff to create her unique artwork which will adorn the internal staircase wall. Leanne said the Karratha community had embraced the opportunity to get involved and make a lasting and colourful contribution to their new health campus. “More than 60 people attended the workshops which focused on the vast Pilbara landscape and the sessions were about using texture and colour to explore the landscape in a dynamic way,” said Leanne. “Within the workshops I introduced a mono-print technique using a ‘gelli plate’ and the idea was to produce more than 500 individual prints. These prints will then be scanned and assembled to make the final design which will be digitally print...
  • Telehealth services to increase at Warren Health Service 13 March 2018 Manjimup residents will have to travel less to see their medical specialists once the new Warren District Hospital opens, according to the local Telehealth Coordinators. South West Telehealth Coordinators Jenny Elms and Renae Seward said they expected more local people to be able to use telehealth to speak to their specialists after the new hospital opened, because there would be more telehealth equipment. Ms Elms said that recent growth in local use of telehealth services would likely continue as the new hospital would have three extra telehealth facilities. The current hospital has the Emergency Telehealth Service (ETS) and one dedicated outpatient telehealth room – which enables one local person a time to use videoconferencing equipment to speak to their specialists in Perth and Bunbury. Ms Elms said the new hospital, which is due to open later in 2018, would have an added teleh...
